Position Overview

The Safety and Environmental Manager inspects work areas, products, and employee work habits to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies (e.g. OSHA and EPA) which will require the application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.

  • Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational, environmental, and health concerns, such as; chemical exposure, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, solvents, and potential ergonomic issues.

  • Develops, trains, and provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining Safety Data Sheets.

  • Provides technical guidance with regards to health and safety regulations and recommendations to management and labor organizations per applicable government agencies and civic groups; such as, ensuring employees are trained in donning and doffing proper Personal Protective Equipment (OSHA).

  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.

  • Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to health and safety.

  • Compiles information to complete government reports and must submit reports to meet set deadlines.

  • Presents reports, and suggests and implements improvement actions to improve Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Responds to on-site emergencies and incidents.

  • Investigates on-the job incidents and collaborates on developing and implementing Corrective and Preventive actions. This also includes submitting appropriate findings to the corporate team.

  • Monitors the manufacturing floor on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety and environmental compliance.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

Skills and Experience

  • Possess the language skills necessary to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations; with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Exhibits ability to think practically and creatively to implement and enforce best safety practices.

  • Presents information effectively and responds efficiently to questions and concerns from Managers, Clients, Customers, Vendors, and the General Public.

  • Demonstrates the ability to solve practical problems and formulate solutions independently.

  • Features a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Pays close attention to detail and exercises caution and alertness at all times.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the specific tools, machinery, or equipment used.

  • Responds quickly to emergency situations while remaining calm during crisis.

Sells corporate products to business and industrial establishments or individuals over the telephone by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities * Acts as the sole sales contact at Authorized Distributor accounts by building and maintaining customer relationships * Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services. * Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from ad inquiries, trade shows, direct mail responses, aged leads, dealer resellers, business directories, Internet Web sites, and other sources. * Provides Customer Service functions to the account including price & availability information, expedites and order entry. * Provides limited pricing support where required by Company policy. * Provides basic Technical Services support to assigned accounts. * Resolves customer problems by interfacing with distribution, manufacturing, marketing, sales and freight carriers. * Provides support documentation to customers regarding open orders, weekly shipments and past due orders. * Performs follow up on all quotes. * Supplies customers with literature updates. * Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into database * Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
