JOB DESCRIPTION:
Come work for a leader in their field. Our client has a medium sized food ingredients plant located near beautiful Dayton, Ohio. They are in search of their next Environmental Health and Safety Manager for this 80-100 person union site. They are offering a solid base salary, relocation assistance if needed, great benefits, a good work environment and a very stable company/environment.
As the EHS Manager you will be responsible for driving site EHS excellence in line with the company's global journey Excellence.
You will work cross-functionally with the operations, engineering and maintenance teams to improve overall safety performance and environmental compliance.
Because this is a medium sized facility you will have a wide range of responsibilities within the Environmental, Safety and Industrial Hygiene functional areas at the site.
You will support and interact with with all levels of the organization providing technical environmental, safety and health support including the development and implementation of programs and objectives and day-to-day hands-on support for environmental, safety and health initiatives.
This is a plant job and you have an opportunity to spend a lot of time on the floor ( 50%).
Champion / lead the overall site environmental and safety program.
Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) and Dust Hazards Analysis (DHA) Compliance activities
Provide technical assistance in helping with hazard elimination, prevention & mitigation and the resolution of other safety issues.
Coach and assist Area Managers in the development and implementation of effective safety programs.
Maintain safety statistics, incident rates, progress against corporate and plant objectives and provide regular updates to the Global team utilizing the safety data management system.
Attend meetings and be the conduit for communication and information between the plant and the company leaders and committees.
Lead the roll out of new committee initiatives at the plant.
Develop the budget for the site

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree an applicable field,
4+ years of relevant experience in a chemical processing, heavy manufacturing or construction environment

Maintain & update safety procedures, authorization lists, evacuation lists, safety posters, potential hazard records, etc. * Assist in the Investigation of industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures. Maintain a near miss reporting system. * Facilitate the evaluation of new or modified processes or equipment, to identify safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. Assist with the selection, inventory, and distribution of personal protective equipment and first aid supplies. * Reviews new-hire physicals as needed for reasonable accommodation and any issues that may affect ability to perform essential job duties safely. Manages medical surveillance programs as needed. * Serves as a contact for regulatory agencies for permit inspections, investigations, compliance and follow-up issues. Negotiates permit requirements within the regulatory framework and files annual, bi-annual or monthly reports to regulatory bodies as required. Maintains, updates and reports permit requirements as needed. Serves as primary contact for the general public for Community Right-to-Know issues (EPCRA/SARA Title III). What is required for this role: * A minimum of Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science or related field is required. A minimum of 5 years' experience in administering environmental, health and safety programs in a chemical production or similar industry. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. * Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organizational skills, and an attention to detail; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative as well as the ability to influence and motivate others. * Knowledge of OSHA standards and systems of safety are required. * Experience with programs such as Process Safety Management (PSM) or Risk Management Plan (RMP) is preferred. * HAZWOPER Technician Level and experience with industrial hygiene are preferred.
