The EHS Manager will manage all California EHS Compliance items in all 150 California locations while developing long-term, sustainable processes. The EHS Manager will focus on continuous improvement and management system approaches to complex EHS issues resulting in improved performance across the EHS function.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assure all California locations are compliant with local, state, and federal laws/regulations relating to Environmental, Health and Safety Requirements.
Assure all company policies and procedures are developed, implemented and audited to achieve Environmental Health and Safety compliance at the local, state, and federal level.
Train locations and management teams in EHS requirements.
Engage in creating an atmosphere within the work place that transforms the EHS culture.
Travel to stores and distribution centers in California to ensure EHS compliance and continuous improvement.
Provide management system approach to auditing, closure of items and continuous improvement process. Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety/environmental assessments to support EHS management.
Establish and oversee, in conjunction with operations, a robust environmental waste management program.
Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
In conjunction with operations, establish EHS performance accountability metrics.
Evaluate regulations, interpret and implement program to ensure compliance.
Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
Prepare applicable EHS reports as necessary.
Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, and regulatory agencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor degree in EHS Management, Environmental Sciences or other related topic required.
Minimum 5 years of EHS experience with OSHA/CALOSHA/EPA and CA environmental regulations required.
MS Windows Environment; MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Ability to travel within California up to 75% (day trips and overnight) required.
