WHO YOU ARE

As the EHS Engineer, you will plan, coordinate and implement health, safety and environmental programs requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases or environmental impacts.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

1 True Temper Dr. Carlisle, PA 17015 in a climate-controlled environment with manufacturing residing on about 170,000 sq. ft. of the 1.2 million sq. ft. shared Distribution facility. We are located a few miles from major highways like route 81 and 76 (turnpike).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assures the facility is in compliance with safety rules and regulations consistent with federal, state and local regulations and corporate policies for the purpose of providing a safe workplace.

  • Directs and delegates certain EHS responsibilities to site personnel in cooperation with Supervision to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Provides project oversight as well as promotes and approves changes in the manufacturing processes which will result in a safer process and/or reduce pollution.

  • Provides technical guidance to management, labor organizations and government agencies regarding safety, health and environmental related issues.

  • Serves as a member of the site safety committee.

  • Investigates safety complaints, serious accidents, repetitive injuries, unsafe conditions and practices found in the plant and offices.

  • Coordinates inspections of the site by federal, state and local inspectors.

  • Indoctrinates and trains all new employees concerning site safety and other regulated information.

  • Prepares regulatory reports to appropriate agencies as related to safety or the environment. Shall be responsible for any necessary correspondence with regulatory contacts/agencies as required to secure necessary permits, provide reports, respond to investigations or surveys or other forms of necessary regulatory interaction.

  • Develops and conducts all required safety and environmental training for employees within regulated time frames.

  • Coordinates and prepares documentation for waste minimization programs and for all hazardous and residual waste.

  • Prepares and updates all emergency response plans.

  • Prepares and submits all required information for applicable permits and coordinates their issuance.

  • Supports the Corporate Safety and Environmental manager to provide environmental, health and safety support to all regional facilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Safety Science, Environmental Science or similar

  • 5+ year of related experience. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and other State/Federal requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to create spreadsheets and charts to show performance metrics

  • Exhibits confidence in self and others; Inspires and motivates other to perform well; Effectively influences actions and opinions of others; Accepts feedback from others; Gives appropriate recognition.

  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.

  • ASP, CSP, CHMM credentials preferred

  • 10% - 25%

  • This position is located both in a manufacturing and office environment. At times the associate is required to sit or be on their feet for long periods of time.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may need the ability to lift and carry loads up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • The associate will be exposed to a manufacturing environment and required to wear personal protective equipment.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 25% Identifies Logistics process improvement opportunities through competitive analysis, and critical thinking. Supports and/or leads cross-functional strategic or process improvement projects. 25% Develops business tools and solutions based on knowledge, product or technology. Reviews and recommends system/software enhancements as needed. 25% Develops reports and runs ad hoc queries. Identifies and develops business rules and standard operating procedures to streamline operating processes. Develops and maintains cost estimates, forecasts, and cost models. 25% Provides facility and capacity planning analysis for distribution and transportation functions in Logistics. Conducts time studies, rate analysis, network analysis, statistical analysis, flow path analysis and supply chain analysis. Develops metrics and key performance indicators for assigned business units. NATURE AND SCOPE Reports to Manager, Logistics No direct responsibility for supervising others.
