The EHS Safety Engineer assures compliance with regulatory requirements and Global EH&S policies, programs, and procedures from a systematic perspective and integrates them into Lam's business culture. The EHS Safety Engineer develops/maintains Lam's EHS Management System on critical EHS processes, programs and procedures; assures compliance with site regulatory and other requirements; works in a team environment to drive company initiatives at the site; collects/analyzes trend data to continually improve health and safety programs; and facilitate EHS training. Activities include managing emergency preparedness and ERT, incident investigations, job hazard analysis, recordkeeping, day-to-day regulatory compliance, conducting inspections and audits.


Position Summary & Primary

Responsibilities:
  • Position reports directly to the Fremont site EHS manager

  • Develop, implement and manage occupational safety programs for Lam Research's Fremont R&D campus

  • Lead and manage Bay Area Emergency Response function; oversee emergency response teams as emergency coordinator and incident commander

  • Provide safety engineering support for internal customers and business groups' operations including project reviews, inspections and sign-offs

  • Develop, deliver and track various EHS Training

  • Conduct routine audits to ensure EHS Management System and strategies are effective and efficient

  • Participate and develop control strategies to prevent EHS Management System breakdowns

  • Participate and drive incident investigations, provides RCCA governance to accurate systemic root cause and corrective/preventive actions

  • Assist with chemical review and management procedures and requests

  • Keep abreast of safety law or regulation changes that impact the organization or operations

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to operations and business groups regarding current and anticipated EHS issues

  • Maintain and post OSHA 300 logs

  • Participate in Global Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives

Skills

  • High degree of confidence and ability to manage by influence and drive business results

  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and managing EHS programs, policies and procedures

  • Strong ability to manage change relative to EHS aspects associated with people changes, equipment and process changes

  • Capable of evaluating chemicals and applying the standard practice of hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to hazards

  • Ability to run an effective meeting with focus on developing a clear problem/opportunity statement and deliver results

  • Can recognize the need and effectively escalate in the event of conflict or misalignment that threatens the success of a project or initiative

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content in front of technical peers

  • Creative and problem-solving ability to translate complex requirements and metrics into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills

  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 as well as OSHAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001

Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements

  • Technical experience in occupational health and safety with a strong emphasis in chemical safety

  • Experience leading an Emergency Response Team (ERT)

  • 7 years of EHS experience with at least 3 years of semiconductor experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering required

  • Master's degree or related work experience desirable

  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred

We are seeking a senior level mechanical engineer to support CSBG's growth at our Fremont CA campus. The primary job function will be CIP and R&D activities in the semiconductor equipment industry designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, conducting feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to multiple different groups to produce Engineering documentation. Roles/Responsibilities: * Design and develop hardware * Projects may include one or a combination of multiple disciplines that include identification and evaluation of concepts for fluid flow, heat transfer, mechanics, vacuum systems, RF/plasma, and controls. Includes optimizing designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency. * Rapidly generate design concepts that will develop into detail drawings to manufacture those concepts. * Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis * Organize, participate and lead design reviews * Analyze designs developed – may need to use structural analysis (FEAs), thermal analysis and fluid flow analysis. * Mentor junior and new engineers * Conduct feasibility studies – including generation of well documented test plans * Understand ESC operation and design Desired character traits: Organization is very important as many of our business processes create a lot of data that needs to be analyzed and processed. Skills in Excel, SAP, Access, QuickBase, Matlab, or other programming languages is a big plus. You'll be presenting at executive-level meetings, so the successful candidate must be able to succinctly present progress on large cross-functional initiatives. Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management. Ability to act in their area of expertise and peer to a well-qualified team is highly desired, including actively participating in design reviews, reviewing and providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management. Design experiences in ICP/CCP plasma sources is required. Qualifications: Semiconductor industry experience is not required but a plus. What is required is a strong design background coupled with solid engineering skills. * Mechanical Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8+ years of industry experience; a Mechanical Master's degree with 5 years' experience; a PhD with 3 years experience in the semiconductor capital equipment or related industries. * This is not a job for new graduates. Hands-on experimental experience is required. * Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools; knowledge of ProE and NX required. * Develop and design critical mechanical systems that will include vacuum process chambers, vacuum exhaust systems, gas and/or liquid chemical delivery, pedestals, showerhead, controls in temperature and pressure. * Demonstrated knowledge and working experiences in plasma and/or thermal deposition reactors to deposit thin films on semiconductor devices.
