The EHS Safety Engineer assures compliance with regulatory requirements and Global EH&S policies, programs, and procedures from a systematic perspective and integrates them into Lam's business culture. The EHS Safety Engineer develops/maintains Lam's EHS Management System on critical EHS processes, programs and procedures; assures compliance with site regulatory and other requirements; works in a team environment to drive company initiatives at the site; collects/analyzes trend data to continually improve health and safety programs; and facilitate EHS training. Activities include managing emergency preparedness and ERT, incident investigations, job hazard analysis, recordkeeping, day-to-day regulatory compliance, conducting inspections and audits.
Position reports directly to the Fremont site EHS manager
Develop, implement and manage occupational safety programs for Lam Research's Fremont R&D campus
Lead and manage Bay Area Emergency Response function; oversee emergency response teams as emergency coordinator and incident commander
Provide safety engineering support for internal customers and business groups' operations including project reviews, inspections and sign-offs
Develop, deliver and track various EHS Training
Conduct routine audits to ensure EHS Management System and strategies are effective and efficient
Participate and develop control strategies to prevent EHS Management System breakdowns
Participate and drive incident investigations, provides RCCA governance to accurate systemic root cause and corrective/preventive actions
Assist with chemical review and management procedures and requests
Keep abreast of safety law or regulation changes that impact the organization or operations
Provide technical expertise and guidance to operations and business groups regarding current and anticipated EHS issues
Maintain and post OSHA 300 logs
Participate in Global Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives
High degree of confidence and ability to manage by influence and drive business results
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and managing EHS programs, policies and procedures
Strong ability to manage change relative to EHS aspects associated with people changes, equipment and process changes
Capable of evaluating chemicals and applying the standard practice of hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to hazards
Ability to run an effective meeting with focus on developing a clear problem/opportunity statement and deliver results
Can recognize the need and effectively escalate in the event of conflict or misalignment that threatens the success of a project or initiative
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content in front of technical peers
Creative and problem-solving ability to translate complex requirements and metrics into clear, actionable recommendations
Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills
Familiarity with ISO 45001 as well as OSHAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
Strong working knowledge of state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements
Technical experience in occupational health and safety with a strong emphasis in chemical safety
Experience leading an Emergency Response Team (ERT)
7 years of EHS experience with at least 3 years of semiconductor experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering required
Master's degree or related work experience desirable
Certified Safety Professional certification preferred
