The EHS Coordinator will provide support to the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety (EHS) department in order to ensure the safety and health of plant employees, as well as the community and environment; and to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

  • Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Coordinate industrial safety and environmental systems, e.g., environmental compliance monitoring, hazardous chemical inventories report, MSDS maintenance

  • Assist in developing programs / projects to meet plant sustainability goals.

  • Inspect machines, equipment and environment for accident prevention devices, fire prevention and energy/sustainability improvements

  • Formulate EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental, occupational health and safety regulations and corporate standards as well as become an SME (subject matter expert) on site's standards compliance.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate EHS training, including new hire and refresher for all employees.

  • Supports employee recognition and engagement programs that improve the EHS culture

  • Support investigating accidents to ascertain root causes in order to recommend preventive safety measures and to aid in developing safety programs to prevent recurrence.

  • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling (e.g., noise, dust, toxics, etc.), to ensure employee health and safety and coordinates both annual and as needed testing for employees

  • Assist in performing internal audits (e.g., annual EHS self-assessment, etc.) and external audits as required.

  • Develops training materials such as SOPs, SWIS ( and OPLs; will train peers. Actively and openly shares knowledge and develops skills of others in the work team. Actively participates in continuous learning opportunities.

  • Oversees OSHA record keeping, coordinates testing and supports worker's compensation program which may involve communication with hospital resources, and federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

  • Meets business needs by flexing scheduled work hours or contributing additional work hours when needed.

  • Models safety and quality behaviors and meets or exceeds compliance with all internal standards, such as GMPs, AIB, Micro standards, PPE guidelines, safety procedures and quality standards

  • Lead learning teams on problem solving initiatives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school degree or Associate's/technical degree in environmental, health and safety, or maintenance OR a four-year degree in a technical or business field

  • At least 10 years of manufacturing experience with a High school diploma OR 2 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 5 years of experience with an Associate degree.

  • Proficiency with Google suite

  • Ability to work varying shifts ocassionally

  • Ability to bend, climb, crawl, work in confined spaces, work in hazardous condition spaces, work in extreme weather conditions, use hazardous materials, wear a respirator and lift of up to 60 pounds occasionally. Must also be able to work at heights of up to 120 feet

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in related environmental, safety or technical field (Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Manufacturing)

  • Experience in delivering safety training, interpreting data from tests and published materials, and writing OSHA and/or KDHE reports

  • Proficiency using SAP

  • Experience creating Process Picture Maps (PPMs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Technical certifications to include forklift instructor, first aid/CPR instructor, CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), REM (Registered Environmental Manager), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager

  • Technical writing proficiency, excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to give and receive feedback to all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership/accountability for work and seeks information for self-directed learning

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $49,600 - $68,000 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.

  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements

  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually

  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
