Ergon has a current opening for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Specialist that is responsible for communicating and assisting with regional implementation of EHS compliance programs in order to help Ergon build a world class safety & health culture and one that complies with all environmental regulatory requirements.
This position will be based out of Austin, TX, but the candidate selected for this position could reside and work remotely within the assigned territory.

EHS Compliance Specialist Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Safety or other technical degree
Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and best practices
Proven strong planning, organization and prioritization skills
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Demonstrated strong leadership, consultative, and influencing skills
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and solid analytical/problem solving skills
Able to travel extensively (estimated 65%)
One or more professional certifications including: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Professional Engineer (P.E.), and Certified Protection Professional (CPP) are preferred.
EHS Compliance Specialist Responsibilities:
Supports and promotes safe and healthy work practices and helps meet environmental commitments in alignment with company programs, policies, and initiatives
Provides EHS leadership to company locations in area of responsibility
Helps business units implement environmental programs and for all environmental media - e.g., air, water, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste
Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential EHS hazards. Works with supported facilities to determine corrective or preventive measures, where indicated and monitors the status of corrective action implementation
Coordinate with Ergon Corporate EHS, Business Unit Management, and facilities to ensure events are reported, investigated, and effective corrective actions taken
Support Business Unit Management during Ergon Corporate EHS Root Cause Investigations
Trains and coaches facility management and employees regarding EHS responsibilities and requirements
Consolidate and report EHS metrics and goals for regional plants on a routine basis
Drive employee involvement and ownership in EHS activities
