Position Title: EHS Center Based Floater Teacher

Under general supervision of Site Director and Education Specialist, delivers high quality Early Childhood Development services to children enrolled in site programs, including educational, social, physical, nutritional and psychological development of children under their care. Communicates with parents on their childs individual progress and maintains records of attendance and educational achievement. Plans lessons, serves meals and ensures healthy and safe learning environment for children.
Responsible for the care and supervision of all enrolled PACE ECE center-based children, planning and implementing classroom lessons, conducting meetings and conferences with parents, coordinating activities and events for children and parents, interacting with the public and providing customer service by phone, email and in person, and preparing correspondence, reports, records and other paperwork required by the early childhood education program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
I. General Floater Responsibilities
1.Provides breaks for Teaching Staff.
2.Supports all Classroom Teaching Staff.
3.Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers by conveying warmth, supportiveness and comfort; establish strong and caring relationships with children
4.Provide assistance to interested families, including completion of pre-enrollment forms, answering questions, touring the facility, etc.
5.Ensure the proper care, safety and supervision of children at all times while at the site.
6.Ensures child/adult ratio is met and maintained.
7.Conduct safety checks and maintain a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and hand-washing, and assures the well being and safety of all of the children in the environment and sanitize all areas of the classroom, including food preparation and eating area.
8.Tend to infants and toddlers personal hygiene needs, during routines such as diaper changing, cleaning, feeding, and changing soiled or wet clothes.
9.Assist Teaching Staff with teacher-parent conferences and home visits, as needed.
Actively attends and participates in in-service trainings provided by PACE and other agencies.
Ability to attend assignments away from assigned site, such as in-service trainings, home visits, parent conferences, etc.
Prepares and/or serves meals and snacks; holding infants, sitting with toddlers to encourage social interaction, good nutrition, and performs housekeeping tasks.
Supervise children during nap time.
Works effectively with other team members.
Organizes and maintains instructional and program supplies.
Maintains an organized and developmentally appropriate classroom.
Maintains full enrollment, and participates in recruitment of children as indicated in the ERSEA plan.
Accurately completes all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to agency policies and procedures.
Provides appropriate customer service to parents, children, community representatives/members, and all PACE staff on a daily basis.
Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Cooperates with Early Head Start Supervisor and other Service Area Coordinators in planning, supervision, and implementation of overall program
Provides a well-supervised and safe learning environment.
Assists in accomplishing the program's non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods) and collecting non-federal share form.
Substitute as needed and when appropriate as instructed by Site Director and/or Early Head Start Coordinator.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position to maintain a quality preschool program.
II. Responsibilities when Covering for an Early Head Start Teacher
1.Implement daily classroom lesson plans in accordance with curriculum plan.
2.Ability to work with children with Individual Educational Plans.
3.Plans and implement classroom lessons and activities for children.
4.Develop and utilize integrated curriculum plans, which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of Early Head Start children.
5.Prepare infant/toddler learning environment for children to learn through active exploration and interaction with adult caregivers and adapt activities for infants and toddlers with special needs.
6.Prepares attendance records, first aid/injury reports, food service records, meal participation records, family contact records, memos, correspondence, and other job related documents.
7.Maintains records of enrollment, attendance, and other required paperwork, both manually and digitally.
8.Schedule, support, and follow through with the developmental screening and ongoing assessment of infants and toddlers motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual and emotional skills (including DRDP-2015 IT, ASQ-3, ASQ: SE-2, etc.). Record and analyze childrens observations.
9.Accurately completes all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to agency policies and procedures.
? Must possess a California Child Development Center Permit or Child Development Teacher Permit.
? Must be a team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
? Must have good organizational, written/oral communication and observation skills
? Basic computer skills required.
? Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
? At least two (2) years of experience in a classroom setting or combination of two (2) years in both classroom and group settings with young children.
? Must demonstrate competences in planning and implementing learning experiences in the following:
o The structure of child-focused interactions that promotes teachers ability to support the childrens cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for birth to three (3) years old;
o Early childhood development with respect to children from birth to three (3) years.
o Ascertaining what health and development services the family receives and working with providers of these services to eliminate gaps in service by offering annual health, vision, hearing, and development screening for children from birth to entry into kindergarten when needed;
o Strategies for helping families coping with a crisis; and
? Must be at least 18 years old.
? Live scan must be associated with California Community Care Licensing
? Bachelors degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditation association recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. DA/ECEP may consider hiring individuals with an associate degree and an educational plan to complete with a C or better at least three semester (4.5 quarter) units per year in child development or a general education class required for the bachelors degree.
? All child development and education staff must complete annually at least 15 hours of professional development and have a yearly individual professional development plan. College credit courses taken to meet degree requirements can be counted towards the 15 hours of professional development (courses must be from an accredited college or university).
? Must have a minimum of 6 units or more in Infants and Toddlers
? In addition, teachers must obtain 21 hours/year of professional development (105 hours every five years) to maintain their teaching certification.
? California Child Development Center Permit, Child Development Teacher Permit, or higher
? Adult & Pediatric CPR/1St Aid Certificate
? Valid California Drivers License and proof of auto insurance (if applicable)
? Proof of Department of Justice clearance to work with children prior to the start of employment

The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically a pre-school environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment. Outdoor and indoor supervision of playgrounds / workplace for on-going periods occurs regularly. Lift and carry at least 30 lbs or more.
The individual must be able to work with children at their eye level and always maintain visual supervision of children, as well as hear, communicate, and comprehend effectively with children, staff, and parents. The individual also must be able to walk, sit, kneel, crawl, carry, push, pull and participate in activities indoors and outdoors as needed in an environment with children and adults
? T.B. Test within the past six months prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).
? Must pass a physical examination at the time of hire, and every 2 years thereafter
? Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Influenza.
? Representative physical demands of the job include: normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
