An EH&S Assistant job is available with a manufacturing client in Vandalia, Ohio. The individual will assist in fulfilling the environmental, health and safety requirements within the facility in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies and Company policy.
The EHS Assistant will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions. Coordinate and schedule required EHS presentations and training sessions for employees and contractors.
Monitor in-house EHS programs to ensure operational effectiveness including proper procedures, documentation and personnel updates and/or training. Coordinate and conduct periodic industrial hygiene sampling as required. Maintain & update all posting procedures, authorization lists, evacuation lists, safety posters, potential hazard records, etc. Maintain/update the Hazardous Materials Database including entry of SDS.
Maintain facility conditions in preparation for announced & unannounced compliance inspections and audits by outside authorities and agencies.
Assist in the investigation industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventive measures.
Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
Manage workers compensation claims and return to work program.
Follow safety guidelines for handling materials with the use of protective equipment as required. Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area, laboratory instruments and equipment. Handle confidential information with care.
A High School Diploma or GED is required; basic chemistry, reading and math skills are required.
Bachelors or Associates Degree in progress preferred in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Proficiency in application of EHS regulatory standards is required. Knowledge in ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other EHS related governmental requirements and environmental standards. CSP designation preferred.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative.
Strong computer skills using MS office is required.
SAP experience a plus.
