PURPOSE OF POSITION: To conduct laboratory duties and research for an assigned division(s)/department(s) of a Medical Center. To perform experiments according to established procedures, to make accurate observations, to record test results, and to analyze data.
Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques. Assists in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.

Excellent verbal, written and/or interpersonal communication skills
Bachelor's Degree in a related field OR
Associate's Degree in a specialized scientific discipline AND 2 years related experience OR
High School Graduate OR Equivalent AND 4 years related experience OR
The prior or current Principal Investigator can document extraordinary contributions that demonstrates an equivalent level of expertise
Research laboratory experience with exposure to laboratory procedures, likely including instrumentation, tissue culture, and animal handling
Undergraduate research experience
Experience with cell biology and animal handling (mouse models of disease, mouse organ analysis, basic mouse procedures), cell culture (transfections, electroporations, cell isolation, cell sorting), viral vector production, flow cytometry, molecular biology methods (DNA, RNA and protein level), data analysis and graphical presentation.
