TE Connectivity is seeking an environmental professional for its automotive campus in Greensboro, NC. The campus has been recognized as a leader in environmental compliance, sustainability, and initiative by the State of North Carolina. Serving as a Steward in North Carolina's Environmental Stewardship Initiative, the Greensboro campus is a model for other sites seeking to improve their own environmental performance. Their status as Stewards also allows the campus the opportunity to benchmark against, and learn from, other environmental leaders in the State. This ideal candidate for this position will complement the campus' Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team with technical and tactical support. This role requires the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business. Candidates identified for on-site interviews will be asked to offer a brief presentation to the site leadership and EH&S teams to effectively communicate their interests, skills, and notable accomplishments
Conduct formal and systematic reviews of campus operations and activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations such as CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA, etc. and applicable State of North Carolina rules and regulations.
Prepare and/or facilitate reports and documents as required by regulatory agencies and corporate management
Regularly monitor regulatory changes to ensure continued compliance with upcoming changes in federal, state, and local rules and regulations
Provide regular reports to the EH&S Manager regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance, and the results of audits and inspections
Continually review trends and introduce, for management consideration, new policies and practices
Effectively manage the campus ISO 14001:2015 management system and certification
Manage and coordinate emergency preparedness, response activities, and contingency plan to best protect company assets and ensure business continuity
Review industrial hygiene needs and coordinate monitoring
Interact with all departments and all levels of management to provide EH&S support
Bachelor's degree, preferably with an environmental, engineering, or project management concentration.
Professional certifications a plus (e.g., REM, CHMM, CEP). Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
2+ year's relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Background in a fast-paced environment, simultaneously working on multiple projects that may involve several stakeholders
Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations
Strong knowledge of RCRA & EPCRA regulations, preferred
Interest in personal and professional growth, to include growth in occupational health and safety
Exceptionally strong organizational skills
Self-driven and able to manage multiple and changing priorities with little direction and supervision
Strong problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution
Able to organize and present data/information in creative and concise ways to make complex ideas understandable across all levels of the organization
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
