Job Responsibilities
The SC State Human Affairs Commission is recruiting for an entry level EEO Intake Officer. This position will be responsible for processing and/or handling the disposition of allegations of public accommodation discrimination and unlawful employment discrimination covering all employers with 15 or more employees, based upon the South Carolina Human Affairs Law; Title VII of the US Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; the Age discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended; the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended; and the Equal Pay Act of 1963, as amended, and other laws enforced by the Commission.
The duties of this role include but are not limited to:
Assisting individuals seeking to file charges of unlawful discrimination against private and public sector employers.
Obtaining Information using various means of communication including phone, mail, and in person interviews.
Answers inquiries by clarifying requests, researching and providing information. Explains applicable statutes and Commission processes; and determines the appropriate action to be taken or opportunity for referral.
Records and maintains detailed notes and documentation on interviews, as well as thoroughly evaluating information provided by complainant for relevance, validity, and timelines of allegations.
Prepares charge of discrimination in SCHAC and EEOC databases for review by Legal department.
Performing related task as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, journalism, english or relevant experience interacting with public seeking services and documenting information.
Must be able to lift to 20lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
