Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager or designee, performs neurodiagnostic EEG procedures.
Responsibilities:
Perform EEG record according to the standards of the laboratory (routine, sleep and bedside recordings).
Measure and accurately apply electrodes in a timely manner, according to the International 10-20 System; ensure that electrode impedances meet laboratory standards.
Write a patient history gathering appropriate information from patient, patient's record and family members to include seizure types, date of last seizure, other neurological symptomatology and medications; explain test procedure to patient and family members present.
Implements alternative methods or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recording. This may include appropriate control setting changes on the machine, use of extra electrodes, extra montages and use of activation procedures.
Recognize artifact (patient or environmental); document, eliminate or take proper measures to monitor the artifact.
Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair them or report to supervisor promptly.
Participate in conferences and technical meetings.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
This is a full-time position working nights.
You may be required to float occasionally to other Children's Health locations including Dallas, Plano and THD Clinics.
