Job Description

Designs and conducts educational programs for nursing staff. Coordinates orientation programs for new staff members, develops programs to keep existing staff up-to-date, and acts as general resource for nursing personnel.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Certification as a registered nurse (RN), and at least 3 years of experience.

Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, physicians, leaders, and administration.

Adapts to change in a positive, professional manner.

Follows through on problems that may compromise patient care by using the appropriate chain of command.

Cooperates well with peers and supports group decisions.

Communicates appropriate information to lead staff member, supervisor, manager, or director in a timely manner.

Maintains a clear, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.

Clearly, consistently, and legibly documents all aspects of routine charting and patient care.

Completes required education in a timely manner.

Consistently uses skilled communication which demonstrates congruence between words and actions and hold others accountable for doing the same.

Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations.

Demonstrates responsible decision making in planning, providing, and delegating care based on assessment.

Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized in an efficient manner.

Correctly identifies and uses appropriate personal protective equipment.

Seeks information/guidance from others as needed.

Organizes and prioritizes elements of patient care for self and others.

Delegates appropriate tasks and duties to other members of the health care team.

Performs accurate ongoing assessment of patient status.

Effectively role models professional behavior.

Ensures continuity of professional care.

Responds to patient and family requests promptly.

Charting reflects patient problems identified in the plan of care and is timely and accurate.

Provides care to assigned patients; implements appropriate interventions and treatment modalities.

Maintains patient education records as requested by supervisor.

Uses Patient safety techniques in the delivery of monitoring, intervention and treatment.

Accurately follows NHS and patient care policies.

Educates patients regarding their prescribed/ordered treatment in a timely manner. Assists patients as needed with learning new treatments/programs and answering questions.

Plans, schedules, and logistically arranges training sessions for patients.

Collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to assess educational needs of the patient.

Tailors education delivery mode to learning needs and style of patient.

Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.

Actively participates in the development and implementation of process

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
