POSITION: Educational Support Staff

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Building Administrator or designee, this employee serves as the lead administrative support for the Fairfield Academy, assists in monitoring student behavior. And preforms classroom tasks. Job duties may vary significantly from day to day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Maintains a positive attitude and works as a cooperative team member.

  • Must have the ability to communicate with courtesy and tact with students, parents, district staff and the general public, both orally and in writing.

  • Must possess strong organization and computer skills. Ability to work successfully with Microsoft Word, Excel and student data software applications.

  • Must be able to prepare and maintain financial accountability records including budgets and requisitions.

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so that students and staff will understand.

  • History of good job attendance.

  • Commitment to the highest personal and professional standard.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Physical ability to perform all essential functions of the position.

  • Bending, lifting, twisting and repetitive motion required.

  • Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) lbs. on a routine and on-going basis.

  • Valid Driver's license.

  • Satisfactory BCI and FBI background checks. Must be free from communicable disease.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fosters positive, productive and friendly working relationships with coworkers, parents, families, building staff, and others for the purpose of providing high quality and efficient customer service.

  • Provides clerical support to the building administrator.

  • Coordinates and manages the flow of office tasks to ensure sufficient operation and timely completion. Examples of tasks include: confidential correspondence and records; sort and distribute mail; prepare outgoing mail; greet students, staff, substitutes and visitors; and answers/directs phone calls.

  • Answers a wide variety of questions regarding school schedules, procedures and practices, and Board policies.

  • Maintains an accurate filing system of staff and student information, including daily attendance.

  • Maintains records and files as required.

  • Processes receipts, monitors the budget, purchase orders and expenditures, prepares deposits, collects fees, processes credit card transactions, monitors petty cash, and reconciles transactions for the purpose of maintaining account balances in compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Monitors and provides basic first aid and health services to students in absence of school nurse.

  • Supports the school's positive behavioral interventions and support program.

  • Provides one-on-one assistance to students by clarifying directions, giving verbal instruction and reinforcing expectations.

  • Checks assignments and carefully follows instructions. Seeks clarification when expectations are unclear. Takes the initiative to perform routine responsibilities independently.

  • Assists in gathering and organizing instructional materials and equipment.

  • Meets deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly).

  • Demonstrates professionalism, exhibits a professional attitude, and models appropriate behavior.

  • Adheres to federal, state, and local guidelines, Board policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to travel to multiple work locations in the course of a work day and in inclement weather.

  • Potential occasional exposure to blood and/or other bodily fluids, chemicals and fumes.

  • Possible interaction with unruly students and/or adults.

  • Work is performed in a school/office environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.

STARTING DATE: 2024-2025 School Year

SALARY: Based upon the approved Governing Board Salary Schedule

BENEFITS: Excellent benefits for all full time employees

WORK YEAR: Full-time

  • 201 days per school year
