Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizes and conducts Capstone course registration, working closely with course instructors.

  • Manage Practicum Placement Procedures, such as proposals, agreement forms, evaluations, and communication with site supervisors.

  • Works with the practicum instructor in the placement of business students in internship sites.

  • Establishes and maintains accurate records of student placement during their practicum experience.

  • Engages in problem solving and advises faculty and Division Chair on student issues as they arise at the practicum site.

  • Under the supervision of the Division Chair, meets with students to assure all internship requirements are met.

  • Meets with practicum students to assure all Business Division, and accreditation requirements are met.

  • Prepares a summary report to the Division Chair evaluating each internship site students were placed in.

  • Meets with students prior to their internships.

  • Assures quality of internship sites.

  • Serves as the Business Division liaison to UHWO Student Services to ensure effective communications among candidates, advisors, faculty, and administrators.

  • Meets with business students on their progress with their internship; provide accurate information on business division requirements prior to graduation.

  • Meets with key individuals at internship sites.

  • Organizes and conducts orientation meetings with current business majors, in coordination with Business Division faculty and Student Services advisors.

  • Supports business division professional activities, including but not limited to: drafting and circulating faculty meeting agenda; recording meeting minutes; maintaining approved final draft minutes on the Division Laulima website.

  • Supports practicum instructor in the management of Senior Projects and Practicums.

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the Business Division Capstone Registration process and Practicum placement procedures.

  • Facilitate Transfer Credit Review between Registrar's Office and Faculty.

  • Act as a liaison between Scheduler and faculty to coordinate courses, changes, and updates.

  • Provide scheduling support to the Business Division programs by using historical data and current academic requirements.

  • Assists the Division Chair in gathering data and preparing reports related to current business majors such as enrollment, courses, etc.

  • Maintain good relationships with programmatic accreditors and other external contacts.

  • Manage and update the Business Division microsite regularly with information helpful for students.

  • Maintains records of graduating business students.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration or relevant field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student advising and continuous improvement of internship programs; or equivalent education/training or experience.

  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the student and academic support in higher education administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.

  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student and academic support .

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

  • Experience providing academic advising and guidance to students in a higher education setting.

  • Excellent ability to extract and evaluate statistical data for annual reports and program reviews.

  • Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheets and PowerPoint software.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

  • For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
