Meet one of our Educational Sign Language Interpreters: Allison Rideout Allison has worked for SCOE since 2000!

Allison works for SCOE as a Certified Educational Sign Language Interpreter because she loves American Sign Language. She loves working with students (Deaf, hard-of-hearing, or hearing--it doesn't matter). She loves the classroom environment and working with the educational team to ensure the students have access to their curriculum. And, best of all, she gets to do all that without any of the pressures (and headaches) of being a teacher!

Favorite animal: Cats, but she loves to watch quails run around outside. Spare time:

She loves to sew (she made masks for her entire family and friends) Favorite movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail Places to visit: She would love to go to Sweden (to visit recently discovered family there), England, Scotland and France.

Best thing she learned last week: "Film Scanner Pro" a free app that turns old negatives into digital pictures on your phone. It's amazing! We would love to have you join Allison and our team!!

Comments and Other Information

7 hours per day; 7:30am-3:00pm; permanent 10 month position. Itinerant - Various locations Provide voice to sign and sign to voice interpreting and other support services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a variety of settings to facilitate communications between students, faculty, staff, parents and others; provide transliteration, tutorial and instructional support services to meet the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Certified Educational Sign Language Interpreter, $30.07-$40.45 per hour (Certified by the National RID, Level 4 or higher on EIPA, or NAD/ACCI assessments, Level 4 or higher on EIPA-Cued Speech for Cued Language transliteration) Educational Sign Language Interpreter II, $22.34-$30.07 per hour (EIPA Score 3.5-3.9) Educational Sign Language Interpreter I, $21.27-$28.60 per hour (EIPA Score 3.0-3.4)
