DESCRIPTION: Special Education Paraeducator

Learning Strategies

A special education para-educator, under general supervision, provides assistance to a classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction. The special education para-educator performs related duties as required or assigned.

Previous experience preferred, but not necessary. Training is provided. This is an ideal opportunity for parents/guardians of school-age students and for anyone wishing to support the individual differences and needs of students in a general or special education classroom.

LOCATION: Jared Eliot Middle School

7:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. (includes a paid lunch)

7 paid hours/day

START DATE: As soon as possible

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION:

Minimum educational requirements: Associate's Degree or completion of 60 college credits or a passing grade on the ETS/ParaPro Assessment exam.
