Preschool Outreach Program

Pleasant Valley Elementary School

Description: South Windsor Public Schools is seeking an instructional paraprofessional in the Preschool Outreach Program (POP) at Pleasant Valley Elementary School. This position is classified as a nine and one-half (9.5) months, 26 hours per week.

The POP program services our youngest learners, aged 3-5, in an inclusion model that integrates peer models with young students who require special education services. Students are provided with a variety of learning opportunities and experiences, as well as a continuum of specialized instruction and related services.

SWPS is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12), all of which cultivate and support culturally responsive classrooms and learning communities. The ongoing work of our teachers and staff includes the creation of enriching experiences that expand the depth of knowledge for students beyond today's classroom in order to produce graduates with the 21st century skills needed to make them college or career ready.

Qualifications: Previous experience working with school age children in a special education program is desired.

Assistance with toileting and lifting may be required. Applicant must possess an associate's degree, two years of college credits, or have passed the ParaPro exam.

Salary: Entry rate is $21.12 per hour with incremental increases (see below). Prior experience in a comparable role will be considered. Benefits are not offered.
