Position Summary:
Paraeducators work with students with special needs under the direction of a special education case manager and classroom teacher to assist in the implementation of IEP goals and objectives. Supports and works in cooperation with the Principal, Dean of Students, Director of Special Education, and assigned teacher in performing the varied tasks within a classroom, cafeteria, playground, and throughout the school.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in this role, and is flexible to adapt to the changing nature of the demands of the class. They will work closely with an assigned teacher and support them in their duties. Typical tasks include working with students in groups and individually during lessons, assisting with lesson plans and materials. The thriving paraeducator is caring, compassionate, and committed to each student's success.
Supervisor/Evaluation: Receives general supervision and performance evaluation from Principal and/or Dean of Students with significant input from teachers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with children individually and in small groups to reinforce basic skills and to check their use of instructional materials under the supervision of the teacher.
As assigned, support implementation of students' Individual Education Program goals and objectives under the supervision of the responsible certified special education staff.
