Job Description:
Position Available: Commencing with the 2024-2025 school year. Official start date will be August 27, 2024.
Schedule: 6.25 paid hours per day, Monday-Friday when school is in session for students plus one additional day before school starts for a total of 181 workdays. One-half hour unpaid for lunch.
Salary and Benefits: In accordance with the support staff collective bargaining unit agreement. Salary range - $17.69/hour to $19.91/hour, depending on experience. Comprehensive benefits.
Qualifications:
Two years of college credit; or hold an associate's (or higher) degree; or pass a State Board of Education adopted paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of those topics (In Connecticut, the ParaPro is the recognized assessment)
Experience working with children ages 5-10
Fundamental understanding of the developmental needs of young children
Flexibility and a sense of humor
Responsibilities:
Take direction from certified Reading Specialist or Early Intervention Teacher to support students with remedial reading or writing needs in one-on-one or small group settings
Assist with preparing instructional materials for student activities
Respect the confidentiality of student information and not discuss them outside of the classroom
Refer all parent concerns and questions about any student's progress to the Reading Specialist or Early Intervention Teacher
