Position Summary:

The Education Team Leader will be pivotal in supporting students with special needs by coordinating and chairing IEP (Individualized Education Program) and 504 Plan meetings and guiding special education curriculum development. This role involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and instructional strategies are in place to foster student success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, curriculum support, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IEP/504 Plan Management: Chair IEP and 504 Plan meetings, ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural requirements. Facilitate collaboration between educators, parents, and related service providers to develop and implement effective student plans.

  • Curriculum Support: Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating special education curriculum and instructional strategies to meet students' diverse needs. Guide differentiated instruction and evidence-based practices.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and support a team of special education teachers and support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers and other staff to support the inclusion and academic progress of students with disabilities in all educational settings.

  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all IEP/504 meetings, progress reports, and related paperwork.

    Maintain compliance with federal, state, and Student Support and Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate support, resources, and curriculum adjustments. Monitor student progress and adjust plans as needed to promote success.

  • Parent and Family Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for parents and families regarding special education services and support. Provide clear communication and support to families throughout the IEP/504 process.

  • Professional Development: Organize and facilitate training sessions for staff on special education policies, procedures, best practices, and curriculum implementation.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related area

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in special education, including experience with IEP and 504 Plan development and implementation.

Previous leadership or coordination experience in a special education setting is preferred.

Experience in developing and supporting special education curriculum and instructional practices.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

Strong understanding of curriculum development and differentiated instruction for students with disabilities.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
