Position Summary

Instructs Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) personnel in current Technical and/or Retail courses at various OEM Learning & Performance Centers, OEM Dealerships or other OEM locations.

Principle Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Organizes, communicates, and delivers learning objectives in a clear, concise manner through well-paced lessons ensuring appropriate classroom and lab content.

  • Actively supervises and holds students accountable in classroom and lab to ensure participation and motivation, while facilitating a neat, orderly, controlled, and safe learning environment.

  • Tests, evaluates, and communicates student performance in a timely and accurate manner according to and consistent with OEM direction and guidelines.

  • Prepares, maintains, and obtains training aids, tools, and equipment, in advance, for use in classroom and lab.

  • Prepares, develops and/or updates curriculum from original equipment manufacturer e.g., curriculum materials include but are not limited to facilitator guides, student workbooks, products and service manuals, online course materials etc.

  • Delivers prepared curriculum and related learning programs.

  • Tests and evaluates student performance in a timely and accurate manner using proper documentation as per OEM direction and guidelines. Prepares weekly reports of activities as directed.

  • Maintains continuous contact with OEM Managers confirming learning program related logistics and deliverables. Obtains training aids at each location for use in classroom and lab.

  • Fiscally responsible for travel and course delivery expenses.

  • Adhere to all the guidelines of the OEM Corporate Travel Policy

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma plus some post secondary education required.

  • Five years experience as a manufacturer specific technician or fully qualified manufacturer specific instructor preferred.

  • ASE Master Automotive plus L1 or L2 preferred.

  • Five years experience as instructor in technical/soft skills preferred.


  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Problem solving and decision making skills, using good judgment and professionalism

  • Ability to provide flexible and adaptable work schedules.

  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge to students with a variety of learning styles.

  • Ability to effectively use a wide variety of classroom delivery techniques.

  • Ability to successfully coach as well as motivate students.


  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday

  • Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday

  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday

  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to) * Perform a full range of Mental Health Counselor services, within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Commanding Officer, on site using government furnished facilities, supplies and equipment. The focus of work will be on therapy with patients and their families. Workload occurs as a result of either scheduled or unscheduled requirements for care. * Assess and report spouse, child and elder abuses where indicated by state and federal laws while accessing appropriate services. * Conduct interviewing. * Perform psychosocial and family history taking. * Conduct Mental Status examinations. * Conduct family and marital therapy, as well as group and individual therapy as required. * Conduct crisis intervention. * Perform individual and family case management. * Provide multidisciplinary treatment and discharge planning. * Provide command and community consultation. * Write progress notes and psychosocial history, other required reports, review medical documents. * Consult with specialists and ancillary departments. * On a regular basis, enter information into electronic records using computers supplied. * Provide care for eligible patient referrals with emphasis on the treatment of mental health and related psychological symptoms. * Perform assessments, evaluations, consultations, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (current edition) published by the American Psychiatric Association. * Provide a full range of psychotherapy services. * Coordinate care with appropriate individuals including family members, prior and current treatment providers, Commanding Officers and their representatives. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Possess a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or a qualifying graduate degree in an allied mental health field from a regionally accredited education institution in conjunction with a program of marriage and family therapy study that is equivalent to the COAMFTE standards, as defined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). * Have either a state license, state certification, or clinical membership credentials issued by the AAMFT. * Have at least two years postgraduate experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist within the preceding three years working with mentally and physically disabled individuals. * Provide two letters of recommendation written within the last two years attesting to the health care worker's clinical skills. A minimum of one letter must be from a supervisor. Reference letters must include name, title, telephone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing the reference.
