WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This position will manage the school improvement program, which includes federal grants to districts for the lowest-performing schools in the state, technical assistance for schools in completing school improvement plans, and oversight of the implementation of these plans. This position will also work with the State System of Support coaches to provide assistance to the state's lowest-performing schools, designated through the annual accountability as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act.

This is a key position in coordinating state resources to best serve the practical needs of statewide educators to improve student success.
Duties involve conducting state, regional, and local training, as well as participation in the presentation at a variety of statewide conferences throughout the year. This position supports School Recognition and Improvement efforts across the state including the coordination of the Alaska Teacher of the Year and Milken recognition programs.

The office is located on the 8th floor of the Atwood Building that overlooks the Chugach Range and the Anchorage Bowl. Covered parking is available.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience in implementing school reform and school improvement plans or models in a school or district.
The ability to understand and interpret detailed requirements in state and federal statutes and regulations.
Experience in project management, collaborative planning, and working with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience in providing adult learning opportunities.
Skilled in using MS Office suite of programs, project management tools such as Smartsheet, GoogleDocs/Google Classroom, as well as Zoom, etc.
Applicants are required to possess, or be eligible for, an Initial, Professional or Master Alaska Teacher Certificate at the time of application. Applicants will be required to possess an Alaska Teacher Certificate at the time of employment and be required to maintain certification as a condition of employment.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in education, one year of which was as a staff advisor/specialist, administrator, supervisor or consultant in planning, developing and maintaining standards and evaluating educational and vocational curricula or educational programs in a specialized field.
Substitution: Appropriate graduate study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the non-specialized experience to a maximum of two years.
Due to the duties assigned to a majority of these positions, applicants may be required to possess an Alaska Teacher Certificate at the time of employment and be required to maintain certification as a condition of employment. Specific endorsements may also be required. Documentation is included in the file of affected positions.
