Education Programs Development VISTA 2024 (Year 3)

Since 1965, CAST has served low-income individuals and families on the North Fork of Long Island - an agricultural and tourism community. We are the only non-profit on the North Fork providing food and wrap-around services to help at-risk community members achieve economic security.

Our mission is to provide a safety net and promote self-sufficiency. CAST programs include a food pantry and mobile food pantry, a sharing room, benefit application assistance, and emergency assistance for rent, heat, electricity and other urgent needs. Our wrap-around services include the North Fork ParentChild+ Program, an early literacy and parenting skills program for at-risk families; Summer Rise and Steps to Success academic support programs for elementary age students, computer, ESL, nutrition and citizenship classes; exposure to arts and culture; and job readiness workshops.

An ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and enjoy a fast paced, lively atmosphere. Must be comfortable communicating and networking and possess organizational skills, and basic computer skills. VISTA members will have professional development and training opportunities.

Member Duties : Join our growing non-profit to gain experience in community education programs and non-profit development. The Education VISTA Member will support the development and capacity building of Education programs by conducting research and development to facilitate effective and efficient implementation.

Additionally, the member will research education funding opportunities, general professional development opportunities and incorporate technology to support education and outreach programs. Education programs include, the Summer Rise Program Academic and Enrichment Program and the Steps to Success afterschool programs, the North Fork Culinary Program food truck expansion and annual Health Fair and Resource Fairs.
