Job Description and Duties

Under direction from the Education Administrator I of the Language Policy and Leadership Office (LPLO), and general direction from the Director of the Multilingual Support Division, and working cooperatively with program offices and supervisors throughout the California Department of Education (CDE), the Education Programs Consultant/Assistant works on the duties listed below. The LPLO is responsible for administering state and/or federal programs, including Title III, which serve English learner (EL) and immigrant students throughout the state.

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational partner meetings, represent CDE, and provide leadership regarding difficult/complex program issues. Plan, prepare, and participate in workshops designed to educate local educational agencies (LEAs) on implementing Title III and/or other state EL programs.

Collaborate with other offices within CDE to ensure the understanding and inclusion of dual language learners (DLL)/EL students related to developing documents and expertise in resolving issues. Lead office representation on the DLL PreK-16, PreK-3, and other early education initiatives.

TELEWORK OPTION

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
