UVA | Northern Virginia at the University of Virginia seeks an Education Program Manager, who will be the principal point of contact for a portfolio of education programs (mainly executive and employee education) in the Northern Virginia region. While executing programs, this leader will draw from the academic resources of The University of Virginia. The Northern Virginia initiative is an entrepreneurial unit, and will address a range of innovative, evolving educational opportunities in the Northern Virginia region. This position will report to the Executive Director.

The Education Program Manager will ensure development, delivery, administration, and evaluation of a portfolio of synchronous and asynchronous online and in-person educational programs, while providing strong, values-driven leadership to learners, faculty and staff. The Education Program Manager will serve as the primary client contact once a program has been established and is directly responsible for any program's operational success. This position works with both prospective and enrolled learners and utilizes data from all stakeholders ensuring that programs meet UVA's academic excellence.   • Plan programs across academic disciplines and fields to generate revenue or participation by strategically guiding and expanding offerings, in alignment with overall strategic vision of UVA | Northern Virginia.

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop high quality, sustainable, and targeted programs.

  • Design marketing materials and plan promotional activities related to program offerings.

  • Plan resources to meet program's needs, including course materials and supplies.

  • Maintain appropriate budget documentation for programs in their portfolio

  • Design and implement program evaluation, monitor feedback, and incorporate suggestions for improvement in alignment with long- and short-term goals, strategic planning, and future program development.

  • Cultivate relationships with clients, learners, and internal stakeholders to achieve program goals and outcomes.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualified candidates must have

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree or a demonstrated mastery in the education programming space.

  • At least five years of professional experience.

  • Demonstrated success in ensuring effective and timely program implementation that meets education goals.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.

  • Ability to develop long-range goals and objectives while managing a detail-oriented mindset across multiple projects and tasks.

  • Demonstrated fiscal management and budget planning skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to build rapport and engagement with diverse audiences.

  • Awareness of, respect for, and adherence to University of Virginia policies and procedures (e.g., accreditation requirements, University contractual requirements, etc.).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to utilize data and market trends to modify, expand, and/or retire courses/programs based on student demand.

  • Help develop courses / programs that have a clear value proposition for students, which set the programs apart from competitive offerings.

  • Working knowledge of appropriate software supports: Canvas, Zoom, MS Teams , Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. During in-person programs, the job requires facilitating clients, participants, faculty and supports (e.g., catering). The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position is in-person based in Fairfax, VA.

This position is located in Northern Virginia and will require in-office presence. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position, operating during regular business hours, but with occasional evenings and weekends required. Some travel is required.

The anticipated start date is June 1, 2024. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range: $75K - $80K commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. For more information on benefits, visit UVA benefits.
