Your responsibilities will include:
As an Education Program Consultant for Behavior Specially Designed Instruction you will serve as a leader providing technical assistance and guidance on the following:
facilitation of or membership on statewide development and delivery teams;
providing technical assistance focusing on evaluation for instructional design; designing instruction and delivering instruction and other supports; helping districts, schools and classrooms move from exclusionary discipline practices, to creating safe, predictable learning environments for students with behavioral health needs, including but not limited to challenging behaviors.
using implementation science to support scaling and implementation efforts.
working to integrate professional learning into IDEA-Differentiated Accountability.
engaging in collaborative work with other team members;
participating in regular meetings;
attending trainings and reviewing materials; and participating in meetings and work with other state agencies; and
aligning behavior resources with other statewide efforts.

Friday, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel
What you will need to be successful in this role:
Passion for pursuing common goals in pursuit of public service
Experience with specially designed instruction and supports for behavior
Experience interpreting federal regulations and legal history, and applying that to unique situations to recommend actions to educators for students with challenging behaviors and other social-emotional-behavioral needs
Experience establishing project plans, including evaluation of progress, budgets, and program implementation, to support quality projects for students with challenging behaviors and other social-emotional-behavioral needs
Leadership experience in settings and situations with students with challenging behaviors and other social-emotional-behavioral needs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information to diverse stakeholders, creation and maintenance of reports, guidance, and written resources
Ability to manage self in relation to prioritization and time management
Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
Desire to work with diverse teams and stakeholders

Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet all selective requirements will be placed on the eligible list. 570 Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Experience
Applicant should demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the area of developing and implementing a multi-tiered system of support for school children. This includes experience in all of the following:
Evidence-Based Curriculum and Instruction shall be provided at the Universal level
Universal Screening shall be used three times per year
Evidence-based, instructional interventions at the Targeted and Intensive levels shall be provided to each student who needs them
Progress Monitoring Data shall be collected and used to guide instruction
Data-Based Decision Making

921 Applied Behavioral Analysis
6 months experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior.
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
a. Professional training, teaching, or counseling experience in an educational setting;
b. Professional administrative experience in an educational setting;
c. Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal systems, selection devices, or labor relations;
d. Professional finance, accounting, or auditing experience including the preparation or analysis of financial statements;
e. Professional experience in a major technical program area utilized by the Iowa Department of Education or Board of Educational Examiners.
A combination of a total of five years of post-graduate education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited post-graduate college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree, possession of a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate, and three academic years of teaching and/or administrative experience in PK-12 and/or a post-secondary educational institution.
Possession of a School Business Official Authorization from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and seven years of full-time professional experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, including the preparation or analysis of financial statements.
