The Educational Coordinator assists with workforce training initiatives organized by the Wright Center Educational Program and Translational Workforce Development training efforts. This position is integral to the programming, record management, and promotion of the myriad of Wright Center Educational Programs and other critical training programs.

The Educational Coordinator provides student support, coordination of educational and training activities, and is committed to the goals of Wright Center. This position regularly interacts with the Graduate School, School of Medicine, and Student Accounts, on behalf of new and continuing students and trainees.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of office procedures. A strong knowledge of VCU policies and procedures.

Excellent ability to make time sensitive judgments. Proficiency in the use of a PC using MSWord is essential. Ability to quickly learn educational software and databases.

Strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, calendaring skills, data and information management skills. Ability to attend to details and meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external constituencies. Ability to work in a diverse environment is required.

VIEW JOBS 11/18/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-16T00:00 The Education Event & Program Technician is responsible for providing technical and operational support for events and programs for the Art & Education Department. This position works with museum staff, volunteers, and the community at-large to ensure that events/programs run smoothly and maintain an inviting atmosphere for all museum visitors. The goal is to ensure that visitors and contracted participants leave with a positive reaction and interest in VMFA's educational programs and museum collections. In addition, the Education Event Technician will assist with issues related to operations and room setup configurations for events. This position reports to the Education Coordinator. Specific Duties: Work as an Education Event & Program Technician with the preparation, set up/clean-up, and production of VMFA's large-scale Family Day and Teen events, community outreach festivals, and other Education programs. This position may include assisting with off-site community outreach festivals and events and would entail facilitating art activities and informing the public about VMFA exhibitions, programs, and events. This position includes working 1 - 10 Family Day, Education, community outreach, and/or Teen events per year, averaging 5-9 hours per event. Attendance at orientations and meetings scheduled prior to each event is required. Candidate is required to learn the logistics of the program/event and must read assigned material such as program handouts, event/lesson plans, diagrams, and programmatic goals prior to the event day so that he/she is able to answer the visitors' or volunteers' questions accordingly. Prepare and set- up educational materials, art supplies, art projects, signage, event supplies, etc., for the day-of event/program. This will require the candidate to lift/carry large, bulky items; cart items over various distances; and stand/walk over long periods of time. Become familiar with basic museum rules and studio safety procedures. NOTE: There are seven (7) positions in total for hire. Minimum Qualifications Familiarity/knowledge of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' exhibitions, museum collections, and educational programs preferred. Customer service oriented; experience working with the public. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment in an efficient manner. Ability to take direction and work independently to complete a task. Familiarity and ability to feel comfortable working with a variety of art supplies and materials. Ability to lead and manage art projects, while also working with large groups of visitors. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with all VMFA staff, technicians, volunteers, students, and the public. Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred. Experience working with different art programs, art classes, or event settings is preferred. Experience working with the public and teens.
