Education Camp Lead
Full Time (Mon-Fri), Occasional weekends, nights and holidays s required.
Pay range: $19.75 to $20.25
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Education Camp Lead, you will oversee camp administrative duties, manage camp supply inventory and purchasing, assist with camp curriculum and maintenance including daily themes, activities, etc. You will directly supervise seasonal Instructors which includes interviews, training, timecards, reviews, discipline, and assess performance and ensure compliance as well as manage Junior Volunteer applications, training, and oversight.
Serve as a Center representative in media when needed. Instruct education classes about animals and their care, lead tours of the Center, and give off-site presentations. Perform Instructor, Animal Care, and Safety Committee duties as needed.
Provide department leadership with program, camp and instructor related data on a regular, timely basis, and respond to ad hoc requests for more detailed information. Promptly escalate all issues, especially health, injury and safety related concerns, to management. Attend to the safety and well-being of animals and guests at all times.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with children and adults in a group setting, experience handling farm animals, small mammals, birds, snakes, reptiles, invertebrates, and other animals. Experience supervising staff and volunteers preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to establish and execute priorities. Upbeat attitude, enthusiastic personality and a strong sense of professionalism. Ability to use positive techniques for handling disruptive people of any age.
Knowledge of interpretive techniques, learning styles, and child development stages. Must be able to work closely with animal hair and dander. Must be computer literate.
Valid CA driver's license and good driving record. Must be able to safely lift 40 pounds.
As this position may require occasional driving duties, employee must possess a valid Driver's License. Employee must complete a Driver Information Form and provide a recent DMV Driving Record Report to be kept on file, as well as proof of insurance.
