Job Summary

Education and Public Programs Coordinator enhances the learning experience of NASCAR Hall of Fame guests by coordinating public programs for children, families, and adults and providing community outreach and support to increase NHOF presence in our community. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Education and Public Programs to develop programs for a variety of audience, implement programs and evaluate program success. The coordinator also is responsible coordinating school, youth and general audiences (during school year and summer) including but not limited to administration, facilitation of program and relationship management with families. Additionally, the Coordinator supports the NHOF Exhibits/Education/Industry Relation team, NHOF Operations and Event team and CRVA Marketing/Communication team.

Job Responsibilities

1.Essential Job Duties

  • Coordinate program schedule including speakers and programs for public programming

  • Identify and coordinate speakers and guest for programs in association with Industry Relation Manager and Director of Education and Public Programs manager

  • Serve as facilitator for programs; including public programs, school programs

  • Coordinate tour programs with Operations including train associates and staff for tours

  • Coordinate program supplies and materials

  • Support program development of new learning engagement with a variety of audiences

  • Review guest feedback in order to make programmatic and logistical improvements to the program in order to both provide a better experience and to elevate customer feedback scores

  • Support NHOF Exhibits program and staff (as needed)

  • Support NHOF Operation team (as needed)

  • Consistently deliver the best in customer service. Model and be accountable ensuring that customers are always put first by living the CRVA Service Philosophy to deliver memorable customer experiences.

  • Champion CRVA's mission, vision and core values and comply with organizations policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Ability to engage and interact with school groups and families

  • Experience working with the general public (including children).

  • Comfort in front of audiences and with large groups.

  • Familiarity with science content, computers, and audio-visual equipment.

  • Familiarity with the sport of NASCAR and/or general automotive science and technology in general helpful

  • Ability to provide excellent guest service to visitors

  • Ability to pass background check

  • Ability to read and understand reference materials and become familiar with the content before the day of the activity

  • Must be able to easily and quickly adjust learned material to accommodate the varied age and understanding level of the groups participating

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (including excel, word, PowerPoint, publisher) and understanding of Adobe acrobat helpful.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be able to spend long periods of time standing and maneuver quickly through crowds.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree and/or Masters and at least 3 years of experience working in either a school or informal learning environment; including day camp situations.

  • Experience (2-3 years) developing or implementing on public programs or community programs

  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Prior success in the delivery of quality customer service.

  • Prior experience working in educational setting with students (including museum, after-school or youth program).

  • Must be creative and resourceful in solving problems.

  • Strong understanding of science concepts that are relevant to exhibitions.

  • Experience in public speaking and/or teaching environment a must.

  • Comfort interacting with individuals as well as large groups over 200.

  • Must be able to react to situations quickly and be flexible in their approach when circumstances change.

  • Enjoy working with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds, especially children preferred.

  • Additional knowledge of NASCAR and motorsports are highly desired.

Physical Demands

  • Must be comfortable and able to climb and descend stairs

  • Extended amount of time walking and standing

  • Must be able to lift 35-40 lbs.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud depending on event activity.

Travel Required

  • Participate in off-site experience with schools, after-school, or community fairs at least 12 times per year.

  • Overnight travel is not expected
