The Prince William County Police Department is seeking an In-Service Coordinator with experience in organizing training relevant to Law Enforcement Agencies to join our team of hardworking and caring staff that seek to provide a high level of training to our personnel.
Prince William County is a growing, diverse, and dynamic community located within easy commuting distance of Northern Virginia and Washington DC. The selected candidate will work out of the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy, Scenario Based Training Center, located in Manassas, Virginia.
About This Role:
Prince William County In-Service Coordinators are assigned to the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy and are responsible for providing quality training to personnel. The position requires you to effectively understand, apply, and relay adult learning concepts to law enforcement personnel and professional staff members.
Under general supervision, you may:
Coordinate and provide high quality training, to ensure training needs of department personnel are met
Organize and schedule training programs, educational and outreach events
Research training courses to recommend implementation
Assist with the development of courses to ensure sound training is presented to sworn law enforcement members and professional staff
Provide administrative and technical support related to training programs, such as coordinating and troubleshooting AV needs
Ensure training is in compliance with departmental rules, policies, and safety standards
Respond to questions related to training courses
Enroll participants in appropriate training courses
Monitor progress of training and communicate information as needed
Collect participation data and evaluations of training
Identify locations, schedule speakers, and coordinate resources required for training
Communicate with instructors and vendors to set up training courses
Maintain records and data on training courses
Review and update lesson plans; ensure lesson plans are current, accurate, complete, and meet standards which reflect the ever-evolving field of law enforcement practices
Develop and revise visual aids, PowerPoint, and written/practical examination material
Introduce training courses and instructors; ensures students are directed appropriately on Academy procedures, facility regulations, training requirements, and other pertinent information related to the course content
Perform other duties as deemed necessary for the position
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or higher degree is preferred, two years of previous job-related training and/or work experience in a criminal justice related field.
Preferences:
Direct experience in a similar role, or in the field of Law Enforcement, to include facilitating training, outreach, and educational classes.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Must Pass DMV check, Polygraph, Background Investigation and Employment Physical.
Must be proficient in the operation of a motor vehicle.
Work Schedule:
In-Service Coordinators typically work weekdays 7am-3:30pm. The ability to adjust the working hours during training cycles may be needed.
Starting Salary Range:
$24.82 - $35.00
