Education and Compliance Analyst

A Government Agency in Downtown Phoenix is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual with good communication, mathematical and analytical skills as their next Education and Compliance Analyst. This person will be conducting field audits of Arizona Transaction Privilege and Use Tax (Sales Tax) based on information requested from taxpayers.

This position is a long term temporary position for up to 6 months, working hours Monday

  • Friday 8:00 am

  • 5:00 pm.

The salary is $18.01 an hour


  • Reviews information to ensure compliance with Arizona tax laws and regulations.

  • Researches statutes to determine whether or not a business activity is taxable.

  • Responsible for identifying and eliminating non-value added process steps section wide and making recommendations to integrate Lean Methods into the overall continuous improvement strategy of the section.

  • Perform education and outreach and audit services to ensure a targeted population provides accurate and timely submission of Arizona TPT, withholding and other applicable tax returns, payments and information.

  • Conducts reviews and analysis of tax records and tax returns.

  • Knowledge and understanding of AZ tax laws and statutes

  • Educate and outreach to targeted taxpayers in tax laws, rules and procedures.

  • Exceptional Customer services conduct workshops, perform speaking engagements, data entry, maintain records and lead projects and campaigns.

Working hours: 8:00 AM

  • 5:00 PM


  • Customer Service Experience; ability to articulate and present themselves professionally

  • Understands accounting principles and auditing practices and is able to apply accounting and auditing techniques.

  • Must be passionate, driven and able to work in fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and other computerized accounting systems.



  • Background in business, taxes, accounting, or finance

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, public relations, or business preferred.

  • Experience with Lean management or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies a plus.

This position will play a key role in the development and implementation of business and technology solutions to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations for bank and insurance products, capabilities, features and processes. This position will partner with key compliance, business and technology stakeholders to analyze, advise and oversee compliance and technology risk. This role will require a strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, existing and emerging risks and technology control design and effectiveness to enable compliance through product and capability development and changes. Guides and facilitates cross-functional teams in the strategy development and implementation of compliance solutions. Independently performs complex work assignments and problem resolution within a compliance and enterprise-wide projects. Reviews laws and regulations for business impact and completes risk assessments. Identifies compliance opportunities and potential solutions.
