The University of Saint Joseph invites qualified applicants to serve as temporary adjunct faculty within the Office of Clinical Practice, part of the Education Department. Successful candidates should have teaching experience in CT, possess relevant CT teaching certificates, and experience supervising teacher candidates and/or in-service teachers. The Education Department in the School of Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education seeks qualified candidates with a minimum of a MA in Education and active teaching certificate. We currently have openings to teach the student teaching supervisory course. The course will meet once weekly in the evening. The successful candidate will teach the weekly course, observe instruction of student teachers using a remote supervision software, evaluate instruction presented, using the rubric supplied by the department of education, provide feedback to student teachers, and coach improvement. Compensation is $2600 to $2900 per class depending on experience and degree.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Develop and/or update a course syllabus
Prepare lectures, projects, homework, assessments, and other student assignments
Grade all student assignments in a timely manner.
Provide appropriate feedback to students to promote academic and student teaching success
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours; Adjuncts must be available a minimum of one additional hour per week, either in-person or virtually, to provide support to students
Attend program/department meetings as requested
Demonstrate knowledge of the current methods and practices for teaching college-level courses; present qualified and clear instruction related to the course subject
Learn and utilize technology offered at USJ to facilitate teaching, including but not limited to use of Blackboard and TEAMS to facilitate learning
Become and maintain training in the CPAST assessment system; USJ will provide training materials
Meet all designated class periods in the semester as dictated by the academic calendar
Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office within required timeframes, leave all course records with the department chairperson upon completion of the course
Build a positive rapport with students and faculty and promote an environment of student success at USJ
Requirements:
Successful candidates should have teaching experience within the field of Education
Terminal degree in Education preferred
Degrees must be from an accredited institution
Current, active CT teaching certificate(s) required
Current, active CT 092 and/or 093 certificate preferred
Significant technology competencies required
Experience teaching in virtual formats required
Experience with EdTPA preferred
Cultural competency to work with diverse student population and with diverse k-12 school populations
Commitment to the University of Saint Joseph mission required
Additional Information:
Teaching assignments are part-time, on a semester basis only and are dependent on student enrollment and department need. All adjunct offers are contingent on sufficient enrollment. Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties.
