The University of New Mexico Health Science Center Office of Research and Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) is seeking a detail oriented, results-driven individual to join our team as a Grant Editor. This highly competitive position offers the ideal candidate an opportunity to participate in a challenging, dynamic, and fast-paced environment that supports leading edge health care research conducted in the UNM Health Sciences Center. The successful candidate will have experience in grant and copy editing, be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a mastery of organizational and coordination skills, and strong computer skills, and editing and copying advanced grant applications. The individual will be a quick learner who can adapt to needs as they arise.

Under general supervision the duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Provide technical and professional assistance in editing and copy editing grants and contracts to be submitted to outside agencies to obtain extra mural funding. This support is provided to faculty who are first time grant submitters, particularly to HRSA, AHRQ and/or PCORI. In addition this position will be expected to provide editing support to large programmatic grants.

  • Collects, research, and analyzes data related to HSC Office of Research projects and CTSC projects; analyzing available data and literature and verifies copy with appropriate departments within the HSC Office of Research and CTSC; prepares scheduled and special reports and may present information; maintains HSC Office of Research and CTSC program/project records.

  • Plans layout of work, arranging sequence of topics and placement of graphics as applicable for HSC Office of Research and CTSC presentations.

  • May electronically upload publications and download internal documentation for analysis.

  • Works in cooperation with other HSC Office of Research departments to create brochures, newsletters, and flyers, as appropriate.

  • May coordinate CTSC and HSC Office of Research activities such as production of documents, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and maintaining files.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

TERM APPOINTMENT; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 03/31/2020; CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING. The UNM Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) has over 35 years of continuous funding as a well-established NIH FUNDED research center.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

As demonstrated by cover letter, resume, writing sample:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area

  • Previous experience in editing grants to federal agencies such as PCORI, AHRQ, HRSA, NIH, and DOD

  • Experience organizing resources and establishing priorities

  • Experience in creating, composing, and editing written materials

  • Strong MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills

  • Strong Adobe Suite skills

  • A/V and Media support Editing web site and scripting

  • Experience in customer service skills working with faculty, administrators and external agencies
