We are creating a world-class marketing organization, comprised of new strategies, people, processes and capabilities, integrated to deliver business results. Marketing and Corporate Strategy both report into the Bank's head of Strategy, and have a close, collaborative partnership to develop and execute the Company's top growth initiatives.

Role description and opportunities

We are seeking a professional to bring the BNY Mellon brand to life, through compelling content, across digital and traditional marketing channels. As part of the BNY Mellon Marketing organization you will be responsible for end-to-end, brand-right delivery of compelling content and thought leadership for our brand, our company and our business. You'll write insightful marketing content to drive organic growth of existing clients and to help win new business.

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to crafting written content for creative materials (thought leadership, web copy, commentaries, blogs, articles, social posts etc.) that drive brand awareness both internally and externally. This creative position requires strong editorial, operational and communication skills to work closely with many different internal teams.

Key responsibilities include the following

Develop creative copy that drives action for multi-channel / integrated campaigns, digital storytelling and social media. Ensure consistency in our go-to-market deliverables and adherence to brand guidelines and editorial standards

Edit, curate and write content that grabs attention, inspires and engages the audience

Lead a team to develop, manage and execute an editorial marketing calendar and compelling new content. Leverage content across multiple internal and external platforms and maintain a copy bank that can feed a variety of deliverables

Work with the broader Marketing organization to develop meaningful metrics that highlight the power and effectiveness of using compelling stories to drive business results

Manage the day-to-day execution of projects, including defining objectives, managing timelines, coordinating with subject matter experts and navigating the legal review process

Stay abreast of financial trends, regulatory changes and emerging financial products. Continually build and share knowledge of the financial and regulatory environment

Represent the Brand at monthly forums and business updates, identify opportunities for aligning initiatives, engaging with business partners, promoting our programs, while building your professional network


A successful candidate should ideally have these qualifications

  • A 12+ year proven track record in financial services writing and / or communications

  • A masterful command of English, with crisp active voice writing

  • Adaptability and versatility to write in a number of different styles and for a variety of audiences

  • Ability to think imaginatively to present information in an engaging fashion

  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic, sometimes-ambiguous work environment

  • Ability to rapidly pivot from one project to the next, work well under pressure and manage deadlines

  • Someone who enjoys research, interviewing subject matter experts, and learning new things

  • Excellent writing skills and an editorial attention to detail

  • Ability to take dense technical material and simplify it for a general readership

Responsibilities: * Further develop and evolve our global channel management and editorial strategy across functions, brands and regions * Manage the execution of content calendar over all internal and external news platforms * Identify and direct global storytelling opportunities using text, imagery and video * Drive the creation of impactful content and strategic messaging for all internal and external employer branding channels * Establish and lead the cross brand/region team of content contributors * Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate metrics and reporting to evaluate effectiveness of communications and the ability to influence behavioral change. * Find ways to enhance existing platforms and processes for greater efficiency and evolving existing comm vehicles for greater impact * Work closely with regional, brand and key functional partners on initiatives and where applicable, make sure internal and external messages are aligned * Develop and maintain awareness of editorial calendars and the needs of business departments across the globe to maintain communications synchronicity * Multitask in a fast-paced environment and can easily change direction when urgent communication needs arise Qualifications and Experience Experience: * 8+ years of writing, editorial, journalism and/or communications experience. * Expertise in asset selection to support storytelling * Previous experience with social media, blogging, content management systems or corporate intranets a plus.
