Editorial Assistant
Job Summary:
We're Hiring! The USF Center for Asia Pacific Studies seeks a current USF graduate student to serve as the editorial assistant for the center's academic e-journal, Asia Pacific Perspectives.
The editorial assistant will be expected to work 8-10 hours a week ($19.67/hr) providing editorial support to the journal's editor, Prof. Melissa Dale, and administrative support to the Center for Asia Pacific Studies. This is a hybrid position with 5 hours/week to be worked in the office and the remaining hours to be worked online.
Full Job Description:
Responsibilities include:
Communications
Help manage the journal's email account, drafting emails with prospective and current authors
Assist editor in communicating with the journal's editorial board
Research
Copy editing and proofreading
Marketing
Work with the editor to market the journal
Publish and promote calls for papers
Monitor APP Website to make sure it is user-friendly and up-to-date.
Administration
center as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
Knowledge of Asian Studies
Knowledge of and experience with Chicago Manual of Style's footnote/endnote and bibliography citation styles
Attention to detail and high standard of excellence; ability to spot inconsistencies in text, color or alignment
Experience working with proprietary material a plus
Skills in organizing resources, time management and establishing priorities
Editing experience, especially in higher education publishing (preferred)
8-10 hours/week
Initial appointment: 1 academic year

Asia Pacific Perspectives (APP) (ISSN: 2167-1699) is an international, peer-reviewed electronic journal that promotes cross-cultural understanding, tolerance, and the dissemination of knowledge about the Asia Pacific. The editors welcome submissions from all fields of the social sciences and the humanities that focus on the Asia Pacific, especially those adopting a comparative, interdisciplinary approach to issues of interrelatedness in the region. The journal facilitates academic discussions among both established scholars in the field and advanced graduate students.
