We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join the HarperOne Group in our San Francisco office! The Editorial Assistant will provide administrative and editorial support on a variety of titles including self-help, memoir, religion and spirituality, health and wellness, feminism and social justice.


  • Maintains communication with authors and agents.

  • Writes jacket copy, flap copy, sales notes, and fact sheets.

  • Assists in acquisition process by performing research on sales numbers and competitive titles, and evaluating book proposals.

  • Assists with editing manuscripts.

  • Transmits manuscripts and manages the publication process by liaising with other departments.

  • Performs administrative and editorial duties and assists in coordinating the publication process from manuscript to book.

  • Writes correspondence, memos, and completes internal forms; masters intranet programs.


  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional writing skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

We are responsible for the development of customer-centric, seamless marketing campaigns across owned and paid channels that deliver on brand goals and P&L. We lead the development of brand storytelling and content strategy. We own the development of the editorial calendar for all channels and are responsible for ensuring the site is delivering a consistent marketing narrative with all channels. About the Role You are responsible for creation of content and storytelling that supports brand big ideas and seasonal initiatives. You will own paginating all catalogs and B&B emails. Working with both omni and site merchants, you will use your knowledge of the business to determine which products are marketed across all channels. You are expected to continue to innovate and evolve brand assets and storytelling past our competitors as well as research our competitor's marketing strategies and new product launches.
