Description:

Role Overview:

The Senior Editor, Reviews, will lead the global GameSpot editorial team in providing industry leading reviews of the latest console and PC games. You will work with a team of full-time editorial employees as well as manage a larger team of contractors to ensure our reviews not only meet the highest of editorial standards, but that they are timely and managed to a specific schedule in accordance with release dates and embargos. You will also be working with teams and contractors in international territories to cover region specific releases and use GameSpot's global editorial resource to its full potential. As well as managing GameSpot's overall reviews output, you will also be expected to be a hands-on editor who'll be eager to take on review assignments ranging from the highest-profile AAA releases to smaller scale indie breakouts.

Your day-to-day:

As we evolve the reviews process after 20 years of GameSpot reviews, you will be a key decision maker in shaping the way reviews are presented on GameSpot. You will work with the Managing Editor and the Editor in Chief to ensure GameSpot reviews lead the industry and continue to be the most respected games criticism on the internet. You will be audience facing, and know how to tailor our reviews and overall thoughts on a game to best cater to our diverse audience. You will also be details focused to ensure individual reviews all meet our exacting standards, as well as be able to take the wider view to effectively plan for future challenges and react to existing ones.

You will also be required to work closely with our in-house video team in producing related video reviews, as well as supporting our overall video strategy by being an active participant in video features, livestreams, and more.

Qualifications:

What you bring to the team:

  • 5 years + experience in games journalism

  • Established track record of presenting reviews, news and features content on videogames

  • High standards of editorial excellence, and a proven ability to lead a team that can deliver it

  • Extensive contacts in games industry

  • On-camera and/or video programming experience

  • Passion for videogames

  • Recognized expert in gaming media

  • Substantial network of freelance writers and editors

You may also have:

  • Experience with video production/distribution

  • Experienced team leader
