Editor Of Investigations

Our partner in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an experienced Editor of Investigations to lead a team of investigative reporters and collaborate with various newsroom departments. This management role involves guiding projects, coaching reporters, managing relationships with external partners, and representing the organization at events. Remote work is currently in place, but the position will ultimately be based in El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities:

• Assigning and editing stories
• Managing a team of reporters
• Evaluating and guiding investigations
• Developing talent within the team
• Assisting with recruiting and hiring
• Upholding the tradition of investigative reporting
• Collaborating across newsroom teams

Requirements

• 15 or more years of reporting and editing experience
• Strong line-editing skills
• Excellent news judgment
• Experience guiding investigative work
• Familiarity with digital news environments
• Proficiency in investigative tools and data analysis
• Ability to generate ideas for projects relevant to California and West Coast audiences
• Strategic thinking about project assignments
• Leadership skills fostering productive team cultures
• Collaboration experience across newsroom departments
