Essential Responsibilities:

The GE Global Research EEDP will prepare you for an exciting career in engineering research that will have real impact on GE's businesses and customers around the world. We're looking for smart, curious, creative and flexible individuals with a passion for research.

In the GE Global Research EEDP, you will:

  • Work on at least 3 research projects over 2-3 years in a variety of disciplines.

  • Grow your technical expertise in your chosen field and expand your skills in new areas.

  • Work in diverse teams on leading edge technologies like additive manufacturing, machine learning, analytics, robotics, controls, and high-temperature materials.

  • Receive technical training, mentorship, and coaching from world-class technologists and experienced technical managers.

  • Share project progress internally and externally through presentations, written reports, and IP disclosures.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Science/Engineering, or related STEM discipline.

Demonstrated academic excellence (minimum GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)

Relocation to Niskayuna, NY; this position is based in the Global Research offices in Niskayuna, NY.

Essential Responsibilities: The Senior Controls Product Development Engineer will shape the development of technologically differentiated products in the areas of Additive manufacturing, industrial Blockchain applications for secure transactions, cyber-physical cyber-security systems to protect the world's critical infrastructure, and more. Specifically, the Senior Controls Product Development Engineer will provide technical expertise for the design, development, evaluation, and delivery of systems technology solutions that leverage leading-edge research in modeling, controls, optimization, estimation, cyber-security, and detection. Responsibilities include working independently and with project teams to meet deliverables and providing guidance / shaping initiatives involving controls solutions including the development of product strategy, best practices of processes, tools and skills. For design and evaluation, you will use real and/or simulated data and perform tests in simulation and/or hardware-in-the loop environments, document results, provide feedback for improvements and help with development of tools and processes to drive improvements. As a Senior Controls Product Development Engineer you will: * Drive productization of algorithms for commercial sale or field deployment. * Identify, develop, evaluate, and shape engineering solutions to meet near term and long-range engineering needs for controls software / hardware and visualization * Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new / experienced engineers, specialists, and technicians * Be involved in long-term planning developing the overall strategy and managing complex issues for development of systems solutions * Support and provide technical consultation to internal / external customers * Stay current with advances in system development technologies to seek out new approaches for development * Facilitate high quality software/code development using Agile and CI/CD methods * Build software applications that run advanced algorithms and can be deployed in field demonstrations * Work independently and with project teams to meet deliverables in a fast paced and agile development environment * Program in MATLAB/Simulink, C++, Python, or equivalent * Work with the latest software technologies such as EdgeOS and containers * Document technology and results through technical reports and publications Qualifications/Requirements: * Bachelor's degree Computer Science or in STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 10 years of technical experience. * Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship. * Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY. * Must be 18 years or older. * You must submit your application for employment on the careers page at www.gecareers.com to be considered.
