POSITION SUMMARY
Meets the needs of system users by meeting independently or as an Information Systems (IS) team member with the appropriate people to determine business needs; gathering information in order to define and develop reports and applications to meet those business needs including all those related to EDI; developing and maintaining Community Health Group web sites; providing technical assistance to Information Systems (IS) staff, developing written documentation such as specifications and operational procedures.
COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS:
Works closely with all departments necessary to ensure that the processes, programs and services are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with CHG policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations including CMS and/or Medicare Part D and Special Needs Plan (SNP).
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical assistance by working with Business Analysts and Users to create and maintain applications and documentation. Assist with writing, testing, troubleshooting, and implementing database-driven application programs including Community Health Group web sites using the standards established by the department; providing maintenance support; developing test plans; working with Database Manager to develop necessary databases and table design; working with users to develop external applications to compliment vendor purchased systems; attending on-going meetings related to projects; working on multiple projects concurrently.
- Provides technical assistance by working with EDI/Compliance Analysts to create and maintain EDI related applications and documentation. Assist with writing, testing, troubleshooting, and implementing database-driven EDI applications including Community Health Group EDI Portals using the standards established by the department.
- Provides information by working with trading partners in sending and receiving HIPAA compliant EDI transactions; map ANSI standard transactions with CHG’s health management computer system; work with internal users to validate EDI data; collaborate with vendors in resolving issues related to EDI processing; ensure sub-processes for EDI processing are in place; conduct systems administration, upgrades, and maintenance on the server translation software and EDI processing software; maintaining companion guides or other appropriate documentation of the EDI process and practices.
- Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs; reading current literature; attending inservice training and workshops; attending meetings as required and participating on committees as directed. Stay current with HIPAA trends in respect to transaction code sets/EDI.
- Supports the team effort by arranging and conducting meetings; assisting in the care and maintenance of department facilities, computer equipment, and supplies; maintaining departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards; performing other related duties as requested or assigned.
- Maintains product and company reputation and contributes to the team effort by conveying professional image and accomplishing related tasks; participating on committees and in meetings; performing other duties as assigned or requested.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
Experience/Skills:
- At least two years of EDI systems analysis and design, development and implementation of computer applications in a client-server environment.
- Development and maintenance of web-based user interfaces.
- Programming in SQL, Microsoft Access or equivalent relational database management tool.
- Experience with EDI Mapping, Oracle, Crystal Reports, C# and web based languages such as VB Script, Java, or HTML; experience working with multiple integrated systems; experience with developing specifications, test plans, and system documentation.
- Ability to operate personal computers and other related peripherals.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Visual Basic .Net, ASP .Net, Visual Basic Application (VBA) or SQL programming.
- Healthcare background is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Good analytical, logical and organization skills.
- Excellent time management; able to work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to adhere to security requirements and confidentiality as required by the company and HIPAA.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum 30 lb. lifting.
- May be required to work evenings and/or weekends.
