Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION Facilitate electronic business relationships between SPR and its partners in order to improve accuracy and reduce processing expense. This is accomplished by:

  • Establishing, monitoring and maintaining electronic interfaces between SPR systems and the customer's systems.

  • Providing technical assistance to business partners relating to any EDI issues.

  • Providing 2nd level EDI support to various I.S. groups.

  • Creating and modifying translation maps, business process models, and trading partner setups as required.

Standard Work Hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all functionality of the EDI translator including installation, upgrading, and configuration.

  • Archive and offload files and maintain SQL databases relating to the translator.

  • Configure UNIX scripts and Java brokers to handle file manipulation and propagation between systems.

  • Coordinate all new customer implementations that deviate from SPR standard EDI.

  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot subsidiary EDI interfaces.

  • Monitor EDI systems for errors or potential problems, and interface with partner to resolve if necessary.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all EDI communication lines.

  • Documenting and maintaining a library of all EDI procedures relating to the duties.

  • Receive and resolve work tickets escalated from Customer Support.

  • Provide backup to the other EDI functions within the department as necessary.

  • Provide remote on-call support utilizing SPR tools.

  • All other duties assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience using a mapping Translator.

  • 2 Year experience with EDI X.12 Standards.

  • Competent knowledge of Unix and NT/Win2000 Operating Systems

  • Proficient in UNIX shell scripting.

  • Knowledgeable in SQL databases.

  • Understanding of network connections and a working knowledge of TCP/IP applications.

  • Competence to understand technical documents and apply technical information to solve problems.

  • Problem solving ability.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Available for a rotating on-call schedule

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year degree in CIS or two to three years related experience.

  • Two years of experience in Direct EDI functions and administration

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
