TITLE: Golf Starter/Marshal
REPORTS TO: Golf Superintendent
FLSA CLASS: Non-Exempt
The job duties described below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job classification. Description of the Position:
This seasonal position will be necessary as long as business warrants a need for a golf marshal. The main duty of the starter/marshal will be to keep golfers moving quickly through the course, enforce dress codes, and assure that proper Pub Course etiquette is being practiced by all. The Golf Marshal will also be required to project a positive and professional image to all customers, hotel guests, and co-workers. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management in a timely manner. All McMenamins employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements of the Job:
Excellent knowledge of golf rules and etiquette required
Previous customer service experience preferred
Flexible schedule including days, eves, weekends and holidays
Essential Job Functions:
Effectively manage play on the pub course while providing excellent customer service to customers
Ability to effectively work with numbers, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
Repetitive movements including bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and stooping
Must maintain a current OLCC card and Food Handlers card
Effective and accurate enforcement of golf course etiquette specific to the McMenamins Course.
Strong communication skills, including but not limited to maintaining customer service standards while simultaneously requiring adherence to all Pub Course rules and regulations.
The starter/marshal may have contact with cigarette, cigar or other tobacco smoke
Stand for long periods of time
Walk up and down hills repeatedly
Work under adverse weather conditions (hot or cold, wet or dry).
