This posting is recruiting for two positions.

The Educational/Developmental Assistant (EDA) position serves as a lead trainer in the home setting, specifically within the meal program, by providing specialized training to individuals to maximize independence in a variety of skill areas which may include:  meal preparation, dining, domestic, kitchen skills, texturizing of food, meal planning, grocery shopping, utilizing/cleaning, and maintaining appliances and kitchen equipment. Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist Teachers with assessing strengths, needs, and preferences of individuals to facilitate development of training objectives and activities.

  • Ensures that training programs are conducted properly and that data is accurately and consistently documented.

  • Monitors training programs.

  • Provides input and recommendations to address ongoing progress and program development.

  • Responsible for the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to the seasonal menus and specific recommendations by our registered dietitians, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and medical professionals.

  • Completes weekly grocery inventory according to menu needs.

  • Serves as a mentor for support staff in the home setting / kitchen/ dining areas.

Work Hours:  7:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. (Working every other weekend, 1 hour lunch break)

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:

  • Basic knowledge of practical application of task analysis and instructional methodologies and of data collection systems.

  • Knowledge of practical application of behavioral programming techniques.

  • Working knowledge of characteristics of the population served and levels of support leading to independence.

  • Skill in reading and writing.

  • Ability to instruct; to establish rapport and relate to the population served, their families, and a variety of service disciplines (occupational therapists, speech/language pathologist, dieticians, social workers, psychologists, nurses, medical professionals and home managers).

  • Ability to observe behavior and communicate observations and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.            

Management Preferences:

  • Experience in food preparation and operating kitchen appliances and equipment.

  • Knowledge of various diets and texturizing foods.

  • Knowledge of OSHA/sanitation guidelines.

  • Successful completion of CPI and CPR.

  • Possess a clear and valid Driver's License.  

Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Other: Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions, Visual Acuity, Inside and Outside Activities.                       Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience". High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with students in an educational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or university                  .
