Serves a specific unit as a receptionist and performs all clerical duties as appropriate for that unit. Maintains medical records in compliance with hospital policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.High School Diploma or equivalent

1.Experience in clerical work preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.

1.Maintains patient chart and accurately transcribes physician orders, including electronic communication of orders or test results.

2.Keeps Kardex and all daily worksheets current.

3.Provides clerical/secretarial support to assigned staff.

4.Maintains data base listings (addresses, internal and external contacts, vendor lists ect.)

5.Answers telephone, receives and delivers messages via electronic e-mail, fax, phone or fax.

6.May maintain vendor contact. Reviews invoices to determine accuracy and coordinates payment with accounting department.

7.Welcomes and provides assistance to special visitors.

8.Effectively uses all means of electronic (e-mail, voice mail, paging, phone, and paper memo's) to relay information to internal and external staff.

9.Complete data entry for performance improvement activities.



  1. Completes supply ordering accurately and in a timely manner, following up on backorders as needed.

  2. Shares reliable, accurate, concise, relevant information in a timely manner to staff and co-workers.

  3. Demonstrates appropriate use of electronic distribution lists.

  4. Practices active and receptive listening skills to ensure productive results.

  5. Assists with special projects or assignments.

  6. Maintains confidentiality in all interactions.

1.Manual dexterity used in operating standard office equipment.

2.Prolonged periods of sitting.

3.May be required to walk to various areas throughout the department or medical complex. This may require use of elevators and/or stairs.

4.Heavy/Hard work: Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking.

Handling of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushing/Pulling carts weighing up to 200 pounds.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office software preferred.

2.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

3.Prior experience with of Microsoft Office Suite software applications, including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook is preferred.

4.Good verbal and writing skills preferred.

5.Basic mathematical skills preferred.
