Under the direction of the department leadership, assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to the patient, family, care partner and appropriate others. Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff in obtaining safe, optimal health care outcomes.

Supports activities that meet the facility vision, mission, and goals. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team, promotes a positive and professional environment for patients, team members and the community. Oversees and guides employees that are under his/her supervision.

Uses Patient Centered Care as the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Kaweah Care service standards at all times, establishes expectations for the team to demonstrate these standards on the shift.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification

Required:

CA RN license

BLS

ACLS within six months of hire/transfer

Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.

Preferred: Nationally recognized certification in Emergency Nursing or Nursing Leadership

Education

Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program.

Experience

Preferred:

Minimum of two years RN experience in Emergency nursing

Minimum of one year of Charge Nurse/Team Lead or equivalent experience preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

The Clinical Nurse Leader is a primary clinical resource for staff on the assigned unit. Is a role model and mentor for staff. Provides leadership and support for staff through effective problem solving and decision making.

Manages Staff and Patient flow: Prepares and adjusts staff assignments based on the abilities of staff and needs of the patient population. Prioritizes care based on the needs and acuity of patients on the unit.

Sets clear expectations and communicates those expectations with the team during the shift in accordance with unit goals. Has authority to make decisions that are aligned with team goals for the shift.

Responsible for enforcing policies and processes with the team during the shift. Provides support, oversight, and coaches team members related to work environment, patient care, and interdisciplinary team relationships.

Responsible for the development, mentoring and accountability of the individuals on the team assigned: including but not limited to annual evaluations, performance expectations, assessing education and remediation needs, and individual development.

Practices collaboration within and across units to ensure patient and fiscal outcomes in line with unit goals. Makes fiscally responsible decisions regarding staffing and use of patient supplies.

Ensures collaboration between staff, physicians, other providers, and departments involved in the care of patients on their unit. Keeps lines of communication open. Facilitates nurse/physician collaboration by modeling professional communication (e.g SBAR and rounding).

Coordinates care in high-risk/emergent situations and keeps Department and Hospital leadership aware of critical patients and any unit issues.

Ensures patient care issues are documented and reported. Assures the appropriate nurse completes a Statement of Concern. Understands and utilizes Medical Staff and Kaweah Health's chain of command.

Maintains an awareness of regulatory compliance. Performs audits and reports as assigned. Ensures department and team are in compliance with policies, regulations and standards; always ready to provide a safe patient care environment

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.

Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Provides patient care as needed/requested. Meets the requirements and performs the duties of a Registered Nurse (job code 0339).

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$52.24 -$78.36
