The position works under the direction of, and collaboration with the Acute Care, Director of Nursing and providers to ensure quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards for area. The position will provide and oversee nursing care while leading, coaching, mentoring and instructing clinical staff, providing orientation and ongoing training and development. The Clinical Supervisor will provide assistance during times of high volume, high patient acuity, or emergency callins until replacement can be determined. The job requires highly professional communication with the public, clients, families, medical staff, ancillary departments and administration.
Other major job functions include but are not limited to: collection and reporting of quality data; documentation audits; rounding on patients and staff; and monitoring variances from expected outcomes. This position will support best practices for quality of patient care and safety at all times. Must be able to deal with deadlines and prioritize appropriately.
Full Time - 40 hours/week
Assists in the monitoring of day-to-day patient care, ensuring optimal quality of care exceeding patient expectations.*
Identifies opportunities for improvements in policies, procedures and processes related to patient care, offering solution orientated feedback and following up with plans of correction.
Assists in the monitoring of the ER and AC staff, identifying needs for improvements and work with the DON to provide training and education insuring all staff are performing competently, safely and efficiently.
Provide support and guidance to the DON in regards to improvement projects.
Assist with implementing change and managing staff's response to change.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Chain of Command and the facilities Emergency Disaster Preparedness processes with the ability to respond and implement if the need arises.
Communicates needed information and follow up with DON and staff.
Communicates critical patient information to qualified personnel as needed.
Assists with the departments quality assurance program.
Required Education and Experience
Licensure as Registered Nurse in Minnesota. Baccalaureate degree preferred.
Must have 2-4 years' experience in the emergency department.
Minimum of one year experience in a previous leadership or supervisory position preferred.
BLS, ACLS and one of ATLS/CALS/TNCC certification required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Provide monitoring and oversight to clinical staff in the ED and Acute Care which will include licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Nonexempt 40 hours per week and may require some flexibility. The shift will be primarily 2-10:30 pm, Monday through Friday, which may include 12 or 8 hour shifts each month to maintain skills and overall function of work flow.
