The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Providing individualized care to the emergency department's long-stay patient population, which is mostly comprised of patients boarding for definitive psychiatric care. Daily responsibilities will include:
Providing individualized care for patients boarding with behavioral health emergencies
Addressing urgent medical needs
Attending morning rounds with the ED Psychiatry team and the charge nurse to review and coordinate plans
Supporting the nursing staff and the Behavioral Response Team in treating ED patients with acute agitation and unsafe behaviors using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological de-escalation techniques
Providing emergency care to infants, children and young adults in a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma Center with trauma-related, surgical and medical illnesses of various acuity and complexity.
Collaborating with a supervising physician to conduct patient assessments and physical examinations, and to diagnose and treat health problems.
Reviewing and addressing abnormal test results for discharged ED patients
39 hours per week, shifts are Monday through Sunday and include days/evenings/overnights/weekends/holidays. (Eligible for full time benefits)
