This position will research economic data and provide analysis to be used for long-range planning, policy research activities, program development, and other decision-making processes.

This position will:
Conduct independent economic impact research on NIST and interagency technology transfer activities, and publish/present or otherwise disseminate findings to the research community
Develop, oversee, and collaborate on Technology Parternship Office (TPO) grants and cooperative agreements for external assessments of NIST and interagency technology activities
Provide input on interagency technology transfer metrics development and data collection
Provide guidance on economic research methodologies to junior members of TPO
Occasional travel - Occasional local travel in the DC metro area and occasional conference attendance.

A. Degree: economics, that include at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
IN ADDITION: To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level (or ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in conducting economics research and publishing results in a peer reviewed publication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
